Mental Health First Aid
Our in-house mental health training is extensive, and includes a range of supportive teaching sessions delivered by our qualified senior management team, and also ‘Mental Health First Aid (Young People)’ training. This is delivered annually by Rachel Oliver (one of our senior management team) who has recently been independently trained and accredited to deliver this course at Train the Trainer level. This training focuses on understanding the practical implications of working with young people with mental health difficulties by utilising Youth Mental Health First Aid skills. It explores depression, anxiety, suicide, psychosis, self-harm, alcohol and substance misuse and eating disorders, and dissociative or intrusive replaying thoughts or imagery associated with PTSD. Youth Mental Health First Aid provides a frame work to help professional carer’s support interventions directly with young people experiencing mental health difficulties in face-to-face and in keyworking sessions. Our in-house mental health training is extensive.
